WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MARBLE AND PORCELAIN?
First of all, as everyone knows, marble is of natural origin, it is extracted from the earth, while porcelain is obtained through a manufacturing process that is achieved by pressure and heat, in which granite powder and glass powder are used.
Marble can be found in a wide variety of colors and veins and by its very nature, no piece is the same and is a completely natural product
Normally the thickness of the marble is 20mm reaching options of 30/40mm, but it is much scarcer due to its high weight.
Being a natural product, it requires minimal care and maintenance, it can be porous depending on the stone so it can be stained if not treated quickly.
In Marmolona almost 80% of our production is manufactured in natural marble.
On the other hand, porcelain, being an industrial manufacturing process, allows the thickness to be lower, 8mm/10mm/12mm, also reaching the standard of 20mm marble.
Being a manufacturing process all the pieces are exactly the same (multiple copies), which makes you lose the character and essence of natural stone.
Although on the other hand it is a very resistant material that does not stain or scratch, and it is for this reason that it is increasingly used in kitchen countertops.
